Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world* at 12 times the global average rate of melanoma.
This is due to our spectacular weather. Sun exposure is estimated to cause around 95% of our melanoma cases and around 99% of non-melanoma skin cancers#.
As an Aussie, it’s likely skin cancer will touch your life at some stage, or the life of someone you know. That’s the sad news. The better news is there’s a way to cover the financial costs if the worst happens.

Aren’t I covered via my superannuation fund?
No. Super funds don’t contain trauma cover.
Can I hold a trauma insurance policy without buying a life insurance policy?
Yes, you can certainly purchase standalone trauma cover. You can’t predict the future but you can plan for it.
Our trauma insurance experts can help you work out if you need trauma cover, and how much will be enough to ensure you and your family are protected in the event of any scary diagnoses like skin cancer.
Affordable Cover While You're Still Here:
Meet trauma cover. It pays out a lump sum in the event of serious illness. Treatment and after care can be costly - not to mention lost income if you can’t return to work right away. It can be a lifeline for many Aussies as they start their journey to recover. Policies typically cover conditions like:
- Cancer
- Heart attack and stroke
- Coronary Artery Disease
A policy with a $500,000 payout costs around $4.26 a day, which is about the same as a decent coffee^.
Do I really need it?
Some questions to ask yourself before getting trauma policy:
- How much money would you and your family need if you can’t work for a period of time?
- Do you already have private health insurance that may help with medical expenses?
Our trauma insurance specialists can help compare prices of different levels of cover to find what works for you.
